New concept from Nashville restaurant pioneer Morales will highlight retail and entertainment component of the Nashville Convention Center redevelopment, which is on target for late 2016 demolition
Nashville, Tenn. (June 28, 2016) – Development partners OliverMcMillan and Spectrum|Emery today announced that Tom Morales, the urban restaurant pioneer who is famous for successful downtown Nashville ventures such as Acme Feed & Seed and The Southern Steak & Oyster, will open a new restaurant and entertainment concept at Fifth + Broadway (the Nashville Convention Center redevelopment). The restaurant from Morales’ company, TomKats Hospitality, Inc., is the first restaurant and entertainment tenant announced for the transformative downtown Nashville project and will anchor the site’s approximately 230,000 square feet of retail and entertainment space. Fifth + Broadway is slated to begin demolition by the end of this year and open by late 2018.
“Tom Morales is known for delivering vibrant, true-to-place concepts that amplify their surroundings by establishing an inviting and energetic atmosphere,” according to Dene Oliver, CEO of OliverMcMillan. “This restaurant will be one-of-a-kind, highlighted by an expansive 20,000-square-foot roof-top amenity terrace, featuring dining and entertainment spaces with outstanding food served amidst dramatic views of downtown. This venue will help carry the excitement and energy of Lower Broadway into Fifth + Broadway.”
Morales’ company, TomKats Hospitality, Inc., includes other successful concepts such as Saffire, Southernaire Market, and Fin & Pearl (opening this fall). His restaurants are acclaimed for extensive experience delivering innovation with award-winning food and comfortable atmosphere.
“I am excited to have an opportunity to deliver an integral part of a development that will rewrite what is possible in downtown Nashville, and we will unveil an entertainment experience as vibrant, original and diverse as your imagination,” said Morales, CEO of TomKats Hospitality, Inc. “Fifth + Broadway will be an epicenter of entertainment for its office tenants, residents and Nashville’s visitors alike, and we look forward to delivering unique Nashville-style hospitality and food so that every experience is truly unforgettable.”
A signature restaurant is an essential element in creating the Fifth + Broadway district’s tenant mix as OliverMcMillan and Spectrum|Emery enter the stages of planning and construction procurement for the project. Other project components include the National Museum of African American Music, newly renovated and expanded convention and meeting space at the Renaissance Hotel, a multi-level Class A office building and a modern residential tower with loft-style units at the base. Additionally, the project will feature an interior pedestrian street that will showcase a strong retail tenant mix of both national brands and local offerings.
“The addition of Tom Morales’ culinary talent to Fifth + Broadway reflects the quality of retail, restaurant and office tenants we expect based on our current pipeline,” said Pat Emery, President of Spectrum|Emery. “Leadership companies seek to provide a complete experience for their employees. Leasing interest in this project is robust and we are delighted that our future tenants will enjoy a sophisticated restaurant and entertainment experience delivered by TomKats Hospitality.”
