Expansive Nashville Food Hall Slated for Fifth + Broadway

Nearly 100,000 Square Foot Culinary and Entertainment Destination to Anchor Former Convention Center Site

Nashville, Tenn. (Feb. 1, 2018) – A vibrant and expansive Food Hall – showcasing the culinary talents of dozens of the region’s chefs, restaurateurs and entrepreneurs – will be the anchor tenant of Fifth + Broadway, resulting from a newly forged deal between The Food Hall Co. and property developer Oliver McMillan / Spectrum|Emery.

The Food Hall Co., a subsidiary of Front Burner Restaurants with 14 trend-setting concepts, is a leader in creating innovative European-style food halls which are today among the most in-demand dining destinations in the nation. The company’s multi-level Nashville Food Hall will bring together more than 30 locally concepted food stalls and cocktail bars, an onsite craft brewery and a rooftop venue that will feature local musical artists alongside epic views of the Ryman Auditorium.

“Nashville’s culinary scene is becoming as legendary as its music and we will bring the wide-ranging tastes of Music City together under one roof for the enjoyment of residents and visitors alike,” said Randy DeWitt, CEO of Front Burner Restaurants. “Imagine being able to savor artisanal flavors from a variety of local chefs, along with an assortment of our craft beers and custom cocktails while watching performances by talented local singer-songwriters. Our space pays homage to the tastes and traditions of Nashville and the ingenuity that its chefs, restaurants and musicians contribute to the community. We’re thrilled to bring such a dynamic dining and entertaining experience to Fifth + Broadway.”

The new Food Hall will become the central fixture of Fifth + Broadway, the transformative mixed-use development slated to open in 2020 at the site of the former Nashville Convention Center that will also be home to the National Museum of African American Music.

Architecturally, the Food Hall will span nearly 100,000 square feet on multiple levels of Fifth + Broadway including an expansive rooftop event and music venue. Uniquely poised for success, the project neighbors some of the top concert venues in the world, including the famous Ryman Auditorium and Bridgestone Arena, as well as Broadway’s Honky Tonks.

“It’s a great pleasure to welcome The Food Hall Co. to Fifth + Broadway,” said Dene Oliver, CEO of OliverMcMillan. “The vast size and unique design of the food hall and rooftop entertainment venue will fuel our project’s vibrancy. In The Food Hall Co. we believe we’ve brought on the country’s most dynamic, original and exciting food hall operator. They’ll play an imperative role in bringing Fifth + Broadway to life and helping it stand out nationally.”

With its many culinary offerings, food will take center stage of every Food Hall experience. The artisanal food stalls will be enclaves for food theater, showcasing the sights, smells, sounds, and tastes of an array of international cuisines – created in open kitchens where the art of cooking is on display. Additionally, the Food Hall will include numerous cocktail bars and a wine bar, along with the full-fledged craft brewery providing guests the perfect pairing of food and drink.

The Food Hall will also become a culinary incubator, offering local chefs and restaurateurs – from the most celebrated to entrepreneurial new entrants – with a low-stakes path to starting up or expanding their concepts. Seasoned chefs and new talents will be free to experiment, create and build an audience while consumers will benefit from a wide selection of artisanal foods all in one unique space.

“Just as Nashville cultivates the careers of great singers and songwriters, we hope to do the same for its booming culinary scene, giving many great chefs in the city the opportunity to showcase their talents,” said Jack Gibbons, President of Front Burner Restaurants. “This Food Hall provides an ideal entry point to create a new concept without the high capital costs associated with building a restaurant.”

Food halls have become among the most prominent national dining trends, as seen in thriving metropolitan areas such as Seattle, Atlanta, Dallas and Charleston, among others. The Food Hall Co. is one of the leading innovators in the country in creating large scale, highly unique food halls in culinary-oriented cities like Nashville. The company is fresh off its successful launch of Legacy Hall in Plano, Texas, a close suburb of Dallas, which opened to critical raves and commercial success.
