Nelson’s expertise is developing breakthrough creative concepts and uncommon communications approaches. His background is copywriting, with a focus on feature writing, live performances, video scripts and corporate-sponsored books.
He is currently on the Boards of Directors for Bridges, serving the deaf, hard of hearing and hearing communities of Nashville, and Borodash, an annual Thanksgiving Day walk/run to raise money for charitable purposes in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
His work has garnered numerous local, regional and national awards, including a national American Advertising Federation Gold ADDY Award, Advertising Club of New York’s ANDY Award of Excellence, many American Advertising Federation Nashville awards and a One Show Bronze Pencil. He was named the American Advertising Federation Nashville’s Copywriter of the Year and received the Federation’s Silver Medalist award.
Before joining DVL Seigenthaler nearly 30 years ago, Nelson was an English teacher at David Lipscomb High School (since renamed Lipscomb Academy). He left the firm for a short stint as the vice president of marketing for the Nashville Predators shortly after the team arrived in Nashville.
